How a sale works

A domain sold for $3,800 through a broker the owner invited. The money goes through escrow, never through us. Example sale

  1. 1
The owner lists it and proves it

Asking $3,800, with brokers welcome at a 10% fee.

  2. 2
    A broker takes it on

The fee was on the broker desk before they started.

  3. 3
    The broker brings a buyer

We record the introduction with its date.

  4. 4
    The buyer pays into escrow

An escrow service holds the $3,800 until the domain moves.

  5. 5
The domain moves and escrow pays out

The owner gets $3,420, the broker $380 and proven.domains $0.

Anything else? Write to us.

Where can I sell my domain without paying commission?

On proven.domains. Listing is free, you prove once that the domain is yours, and proven.domains takes 0% of the sale. You set a price or take offers, buyers write to you directly, and the sale closes through an escrow service.

Is it really 0% commission?

Yes. proven.domains takes nothing from any sale. If an owner invites a broker and the broker sells the domain, the fee the owner set goes to the broker, not to proven.domains. An escrow service, if the two sides use one, charges its own fee.

How do I prove a domain is mine?

Add one DNS TXT record where the domain's nameservers point, or sign in once to the registrar or DNS account the domain lives in (Cloudflare, Porkbun, NameSilo, GoDaddy or Spaceship). Nobody but the domain's controller can do either, so neither needs manual review. proven.domains tells you where the record goes, which is not always the registrar.

Does proven.domains keep my registrar key?

No. A registrar or DNS account key is used for one check of which domains the account holds and is never stored.

Can I bring my listings from Afternic or Sedo?

Yes. Export a CSV there and upload it on proven.domains, or paste the names. Each domain still needs proof of ownership before it shows as proven.

What does parking a domain mean on proven.domains?

The owner lists the domain and forwards the name to its page on proven.domains with the registrar's own forwarding, so anyone who types the name lands on the listing. It stays parked for as long as the owner likes, for free.

What if an owner and a broker disagree about a buyer?

A buyer who opens a broker's sales page stays that broker's buyer: if they write about the domain within 30 days, the message goes to the broker, even from the owner's page, and from then on they talk to the broker unless the broker leaves them unanswered for 3 days. proven.domains records every introduction with its date and shows the owner, in their conversation with that buyer, which broker brought them and when. The agreement on the fee is between the owner and the broker; proven.domains keeps the record and does not enforce it.

What can't be listed on proven.domains?

The few kinds of names in the listing standards, published on the terms page. A person decides each removal and tells the owner which standard it broke.

Can I take a listing down?

Any time, from your dashboard.
